Video of the Week

Last video from Bali for a while. I recorded this on our last day. You know that day. The day when you were just starting to relax and get into the rhythm of relaxing. You have your morning routine down, worked out what you would eat from the breakfast buffet, where to sit, where the kid-free zone is, what pool sun lounge had the best people-watching view, etc etc..

I reckon it's a good sign that the holiday has been a success when this happens. It’s when you start to feel recalibrated and ready to reload and re-engage when we get back home.

Ps. Sorry its a shirt off video again but it 31deg and 85% humidity 24-7 at the moment in Bali. So it's a wet t-shirt or no t-shirt.


Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.

1) A book I’m reading...

The Trusted Advisor.A great book about becoming… can you guess? A trusted Advisor. It's about how to move from A) just giving clients information (explaining) to B) providing solutions (Problem-solving) to C) idea’s (Providing insights) to finally D) A safe haven for hard issues (Truly understanding your client. More than a book about making money in business, it’s a book about creating a life and business of value. It's a book about really making a difference in people's lives. Just the insight from the first 2 chapters made the book worth the purchase. Do yourself a favour.


2) A place I had a great experience...

Cuca (pronounces cook-u). Eating out can be about fueling your body or it can be about having an experience. This restaurant in Jimbaran Bali was an experience. The Canadian Chef Kevin was an absolute character, love to chat with the diners about his passion, food. The preparation, presentation, and performance were amazing and the food flavour was incredible. Michelle and I had what became a 14-course degustation (Kevin the chef loves Melbourne) for about $60 each. If you come to Bali this is a must-go eat, just make sure you book a seat at the kitchen bar. It’s worth watching the team of 18 chef/cooks in action.


3) Something I did on holiday for a change...

Rode a pushbike. Normally on holiday, my great love is getting up early to catch the sunrise with a run in the backblocks, markets, and off-grid places wherever I am staying. Sadly I went away this year with runners knee (ie no running allowed). The resort we were staying at had mountain bikes for hire. Booooom! They were fantastic. I was able to travel further afield than normal, and explore even more and get into even more trouble - no jail time. Plus the adventure of cycling on the roads in Bali was an added bonus experience. I wonder whether next holiday you could skip the gym and go explore on a bike.
